Stanley Franklin Neubert, 88, of North Mankato died at his home on Monday, April 24, 2006.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 28, 2006 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Mankato Mortuary and one hour prior to the service at church on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
Stan was born on May 22, 1917 to Frank A. and Mamie (Carlson) Neubert. He lived his entire life on the 500 block of Lyndale St, the street his parents named as the city developed in the early 1900's. Stan married Daisy D. Strohman on December 3, 1939. Daisy died on February 4, 1977 after a long battle with cancer. Stan later married Hazel Fralish on February 14, 1987. The couple continued to reside in the family home on Lyndale Street.
After high school, Stan attended the Minneapolis Vocational Technical School and worked for LeJay Manufacturing Co., a pioneer in the development of electric fishing motors. He represented them in sales at the first Minneapolis Sportsman Show. Mr. Neubert was a founding member of two major Mankato companies, Kato Engineering Company in 1936 and Katolight Corporation in 1952. He was active in many capacities, including design, manufacturing and sales. For a short time Mr. Neubert was co-owner of Mankato Hardware and Equipment Company where his first generators were marketed and where he invented a system to drive AC generators using electrical power from farm tractors. He was a pioneer in the design, manufacturing and promotion of large capacity diesel generators. Stan was instrumental in the organization of the National Electrical Generating Systems Association. After 46 years in the generating business, he retired in 1982.
Mr Neubert was active in the community, an early member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, First Christian Church, and for the past 19 years, Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He enjoyed music and played in dance, civic, and military bands. He was a member of SCORE, Noon Exchange Club, Golden K's, and the Elk's Club.
Stan will be remembered as a man of deep faith and family devotion.
Stan is survived by his wife, Hazel of North Mankato; two daughters, Sharon (John) Hovde of St. Cloud, Deanna Eeg of Greenbush; two sons, Richard (Karen) and Thomas (Jo) all of North Mankato; four step-sons, Steve (Mary) Fralish, Lee (Diane) Fralish, and Kent (Pat) Fralish all of Mankato, Jason (Lisa) Fralish of Chicago, IL; two step-daughters, Colleen Mertesdorf of Waseca, Pam (Randy) Schindle of St. Clair; eight grandchildren, seventeen step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Betty Barker of Mankato, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Daisy, three sisters, Georgia Davis, Norma Helquist, and Frances Fredrickson, and son-in-law, Ross Eeg.
