Raymond H. Bruender, age 87, died Monday, April 24, 2006 at his North Mankato home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Rev. Peter Nosbush officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Mankato Mortuary with a 7 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the ISJ Hospice Program.
Mr. Bruender was born April 27, 1918 to John and Anna (Schaub) Bruender in Mankato. After graduating from Loyola High School, he farmed, was a carpenter and cabinet maker and then worked for Continental Can Company for 27 years. He married Sylvia Pidde on June 9, 1951 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato. Raymond was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Catholic Aid Association, and the Minnesota Valley Gem & Mineral Club. His interests were gardening, woodworking, reading, traveling, and the lapidary hobby.
Mr. Bruender is survived by his wife, Sylvia of North Mankato; two sons, David and his wife, Doris of Little Rock, AR, Stephen and his wife, Lori of Mankato; two daughters, Ramona Raberge and her husband, Michael of Mankato, Karen Schmoll and her husband, Thomas of North Mankato; eight grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Rausch of Eagle Lake; three sisters-in-law, Thora Bruender and Gertrude Bruender both of Mankato, Alice Pidde of Bloomington; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters, and a half-brother.
