Lugene Hauch, 88, passed away peacefully at her Mankato home on April 11, 2006.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Christ the King Lutheran Church with Pastor John Petersen officiating. Burial will be in Tivoli Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Saturday.
Lugene was born on June 7, 1917, to Allen G. and Lulu (Bennett) Neal in Eagle Lake. She attended schools in Eagle Lake and Mankato through grade 12, and then worked for the S.S. Kresge Co. in Mankato. On August 1, 1937, Lugene and Clifford L. Hauch were united in marriage in Mankato.
During World War II, Lugene and Clifford lived in Long Beach, CA. They returned to Mankato in 1945. After 28 years as a homemaker, Lugene re-entered the work force and was employed by the JCPenney Co. in Mankato as manager of the catalog department from 1965 until her retirement in 1980. She was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church.
Lugene enjoyed traveling and took many trips throughout the United States, including Hawaii, as well as to Canada and Europe. She enjoyed socializing with her friends, as well as knitting, crocheting, gardening, cooking, and baking. Her greatest pleasure in life was spending time with her family.
Lugene's survivors include her son Thomas Hauch, Mankato; daughter Sandra Hauch Smith, Eagle Lake; daughter-in-law Carol M. Hauch, North St. Paul; five grandchildren Dr. Kip D. Hauch, Seattle, WA, Kristin C. Hauch, Oakdale, Scott W. (Cheryl) Hauch, Oakdale, Michelle Smith (Mark) Perish, Eagan, Steven L. (Shannon) Smith, Milwaukee, WI; four great-grandchildren; brother Dr. Robert A. Neal (Suzanne), Dayton, NV; godson Warren L. (Bonnie) Smith, Faribault; sisters-in-law Angie Hauch and Betty Hauch, both of Mankato; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Dr. Dale C. Hauch; her parents; five brothers; and two sisters.
