Lynn Twedt, age 84, of Mankato and formerly of South Dakota, died Friday, April 7, 2006 at Immanuel St. Josephs Hospital in Mankato.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday at Evangelical Covenant Church in North Mankato with Rev. Roger Gilbert, officiating. Burial will be held in South Dakota at a later date. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday at Mankato Mortuary. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society or the American Bible Society.
Lynn was born on September 27, 1921 to Clarence T. and Ruth (Eneboe) Johnson in Sioux County, IA. She grew up in Lincoln County, South Dakota near Alcester and attended Canton High School. After high school she was an active participant in the WWII effort and taught Morse code at the Army Air Corps Base in Sioux Falls, SD. Later, Lynn became a country school teacher for several years in Iowa and South Dakota. She was married to Paul Twedt on December 20, 1947 at her parents home in Lincoln County, SD. During her married years she was a homemaker and a loving mother mother. She was active politically, and in her later years an ardent Evangelical Christian and a devoted friend to many. Lynn attended the Evangelical Covenant Church in North Mankato. She enjoyed reading, traveling and talking to family and friends.
She is survived by children, Doug (Stella) Twedt of North Mankato, and Deborah (Ronald) Arndt of St. Paul; grandchildren, Thomas Arndt and Christian Twedt; step-grandchildren, Britny, Brandon and Kirsten; sister, Ardis Bergquist of Omaha, NE; brother, Mahlon (Delores) Johnson of Alcester, SD; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years Paul Twedt in 1996, and her parents.
