Bernice Case

Bernice Fay Case, age 94, Lake Crystal formerly of Garden City, died Tuesday, August 31, 2004 at Luther Memorial Home in Madelia.

Funeral service 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Garden City Christian Church, with Rev. Daniel Sanford officiating. Interment in Garden City Cemetery. Visitation 4-7 p.m. Friday at Lake Crystal Mortuary and continues one hour before services at church on Saturday. If so desired memorials may be given to Garden City Christian Church or an organization of the donors choice.

Bernice was born November 7, 1909 to Ernest and Addie L. (Hartbeck) Palmby in Avery Township, Hancock County, Iowa. She moved with her family from Iowa to Eagle Bend, Minnesota and then to the Vernon Center Area. She graduated from Garden City High School in 1928. She was united in marriage to Harold Case on March 21, 1930 at her parents home in Vernon Center Township. Harold died December 19, 1974. Bernice was a member of Garden City Christian Church in which she was very active. She was also a member of scrabble and diet clubs. She enjoyed knitting and other handiwork, gardening, and traveling.

Bernice is survived by four children, Irene (Kenneth) Thompson of rural Garden City, Lee (Joyce) Case of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, Paul (Carolyn) Case of rural Garden City, Florence (Al) Gustafson of Riverview, Florida; 14 grandchildren, Mark (Nancy) Thompson, Laurie (Jon Loe) Thompson, Peter (Michele) Thompson, Shelley (Marty) Leenhouts, Jon Thompson, Kerry (Randy) Reynolds, Craig (Debbie) Case, Doug Case, Brenda (Richard Vonder Embes) Case, Aaron Case, Cathy (J.D.) Warling, Tony (Kelly) Gustafson, Todd (Laura) Gustafson, Bret Gustafson; 17 great-grandchildren; 8 step great-grandchildren; brother, Clarence (Emma) Palmby of Minnetonka; sister, Gladys (Gerald) Domonoske of Rochester; sister-in-law, Mae Case of Mankato; several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her husband, Harold and two brothers, Harold and Raymond.
