Iona P. Nowacki, age 84 of North Mankato died Monday, August 30, 2004 at Oak Terrace Assisted Living in North Mankato.

Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Baptist Church, Mankato, with Rev. Richard Colletti officiating. Burial in Woodland Hills Memorial Park. Visitation 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Mankato Mortuary, with a Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues one hour before services at church on Thursday.

Iona was born August 18, 1920 in Orleans, MN to George and Mary(Haubrich)Bublitz. She was united in marriage to Julian F. Nowacki on September 16, 1940 in Hallock, MN. She worked for Jennie O Foods for 10 years. They have lived in Mankato and North Mankato since 1996 and prior to that Willmar, MN. Iona was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Mankato, Daughters of Isabella and Modern Woodmen of America. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Nowacki is survived by her husband, Julian F. Nowacki of North Mankato; six children, Ken (Terry) Nowacki of Mankato, Diane (John) Schimek of Easton, Rosemary (Jim) Gardner of Winfield, KS, Donald (Germaine) Nowacki of Mankato, Edward Nowacki and fiancé, Gloria Chapin of Spicer, John Nowacki of Waseca; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marie (Emil) Karnik of Bird Island, Helen (Harold) Kroubetz of Lake Crystal; nephews, nieces and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three grandchildren.
