Don W. Waibel, age 51 of Mankato died unexpectedly Saturday, August 28, 2004 at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester.
Funeral service 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Evangelical Covenant Church, North Mankato, with Rev. James Dye officiating. Burial in St. Andrews Catholic Cemetery, Fairfax, MN. Visitation 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Mankato Mortuary and one hour before services at church. Memorials may be given to an organization of the donors choice.
Don was born June 21, 1953 in Sleepy Eye to Donald and Helen (Fahey) Waibel. He graduated from Fairfax High School in 1971 and from Rochester Technical College as a surgical technician. He was united in marriage to Darlene Willard on February 13, 1998 in Mankato. He was employed as a surgical technician at the St. Peter Community Hospital in St. Peter. Don was a member of Belgrade Ave. United Methodist Church. He enjoyed music and was an avid sports fan, especially baseball.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene Willard; a son, Graham Waibel of Eagle Lake; two step-sons, Christopher (Jackie) Willard of Mankato, Corey (Gina) Willard of Holmen, WI; a step-daughter, Kelsey Willard and fianc, Chris Prodoehl of Mankato; two step-grandchildren, Erin and Noah; two brothers, Greg (Karen) Waibel of Indianapolis, IN, Ron (Lora) Waibel of Fairfax; a sister, Deb Nachreiner of Fairfax; his beloved dog, Nikki; nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
