Florence was born December 21, 1908 to Augusta (Hildebrandt) Ostermann and Edward Louis Ostermann in Sibley County, MN. On September 2, 1936, she was united in marriage in LeSueur, MN to Albert C. Born of Mankato. They had one daughter, Lorraine Marie Born. They spent their entire forty years of marriage working side by side on their farm in Mankato. Their farm was pictured in the National Geographic magazine in 1976. One year later Albert passed away. Florence enjoyed working with her husband on their farm. She enjoyed their large vegetable and flower gardens. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking and home canning. Florence joined the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mankato following her marriage to Albert, where she has been a member ever since. She was also a member of the Immanuel Ladies Auxiliary for all of those years.
When Florence advanced in years, she moved from Mankato to Oakdale, MN to be near her daughter and son-in-law. In 1999 Florence fell in her home in Oakdale and broke her hip. Following rehabilitative therapy, she moved in with her daughter and son-in-law. Then in 2003 Florence fell again and broke her other hip. Following the break, Florence resided at the Woodbury Health Care Center until her death.
She is survived by her daughter Lorraine and son-in-law, Donald G. Grimm Sr., of Oakdale. She is also survived by her special and dear friend, Marian Pollei. This friendship has spanned approximately sixty-eight years.
Florence was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Albert in 1976 and her brother Clarence, in 1996. Florence will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
