Olga E. Chambers, age 90, of rural Good Thunder, MN died Friday, August 27, 2004 of complications of Alzheimer's.
Memorial service will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday August 29th at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Mankato with Rev. Lisa Freedman officiating. A memorial service and burial will be at a later date in the family burial grounds in Zion Presbyterian Church in Colfax County, NE.
Born November 18, 1913 to Edward and Emily Schultz on a farm in Colfax County, NE, Olga attended college at Wayne State College. She married Richard A. Chambers on February 27, 1946 in California. She and her husband lived in Sioux Falls, SD for 30 years, later moving to the Good Thunder area. She taught school for many years in NE; Sioux City, IA; CA; Powell, WY; a one-room school house near Flandreau, SD; and retired from All-Saints Elementary School in Sioux Falls, SD. In Sioux Falls, she was active in the Westminster Presbyterian Church, was an officer in Church Women United, and an active volunteer for the local Republican Party. After retiring she and her husband enjoyed traveling and visiting family. She loved reading, gardening, crossword puzzles, music and playing with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Richard A. Chambers, of rural Good Thunder, MN; son, Richard E. (Susan) Chambers of rural Good Thunder; daughter, Patrice (Edward) Murphy of Omaha, NE; four grandchildren, Christina (Matthew) Flaugher, Colin Chambers, Edward Murphy, Elizabeth Murphy; and one great-grandchild, Keegan Chambers Anderson. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, brother, and grandson Joel Murphy.
