Leo Bernard Doyle, age 80 of Mankato, died Friday evening, August 20, 2004, at his home.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday at St. Johns Episcopal Church in Mankato with Rev. Paul Rider officiating. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before services at the church on Thursday. Memorial may be given to St. Johns Episcopal Church or the ISJ Hospice Program. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Leo Bernard Doyle was born June 19, 1924 to Bernard and Ingrid (Halverson) Doyle in Hibbing, Minnesota. He graduated from High School in Keewatin, Minnesota in 1942. On December 8, 1942, he joined the U.S.Army Air Corps and served for three years. During that time he was a flight engineer on B24s with the Flying Tigers in China and other locations. On March 30, 1946, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Jean Arnold of Hibbing. Leo was a student at the Milwaukee School of Engineering where he was also an instructor. He worked for Johnson Control for over 30 years as supervisor for installation of pneumatic temperature controls. Following his employment with Johnson Control he owned and operated Northern Controls for more then 10 years. Leo was a Mankato resident for 49 years. He was an active member of St. Johns Episcopal Church and served on the vestry along with many other committees. He was a long time member of the Mankato Golf Club and a former member of the Elks and Exchange Clubs. Leo enjoyed playing golf and cards with his friends, traveling with his wife and family, and reading western and mystery novels. Leo was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Leo is survived by his wife, Dorothy Jean Doyle of Mankato; one son, Gary Arnold (Diane) Doyle of Plymouth, MN; one daughter, Barbara Jean Doyle of Mankato; five grandchildren, Amy (Lance) Coker, Wess McConville, Michelle McConville, Brian Doyle, Stacy (Christian) Leonhard; two great-grandsons, Blake and Jack Coker; one brother, Richard (Veronica) Doyle; nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceded in death by his parents and sister, Dorothy Mae Saari.
