Nellie A. Menton, age 92, of Mankato, died Friday, July 23, 2004 at her residence. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 27, 2004, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mankato, with Rev. Wayne Eichstadt officiating. Interment will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park in Mankato. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Monday at Mankato Mortuary, and continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Memorials are preferred to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Region 9 Health Insurance Counseling, or to an organization of the donors choice.
Nellie was born on April 21, 1912, in Blue Earth, MN. She was the daughter of Joseph and Hattie (Claude) Sasse. Nellie was united in marriage to Stanley K. Menton on May 19, 1934 in Mankato. Following their marriage, they resided in Mankato. Nellie was a homemaker and a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she was a long-standing member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed baking, gardening, entertaining family and friends, fishing and visiting their cabin in Park Rapids.
Nellie is survived by her son, Dr. David Menton and his wife, Deborah of St. Louis, MO; two granddaughters and their husbands, Michelle and Doug Lange of St. Albans, MO, Lisa and Scott Anderson of Papillion, NE; two great-grandsons, Haiden and Garrett Lange; one sister, Alice Koskovich and her husband, Alex of Park Rapids; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stanley in 1995; two infant sons; a daughter-in-law, Marcia; a great-granddaughter, Chloe; three sisters; and six brothers.
