Sherry was raised in New Prague where she attended school and graduated in 1957. She moved to Mankato to fulfill her dream of becoming a nurse. Sherry graduated from St. Joe's as an LPN. She met the love of her life, Donald "Gill" Peterson, and was united in marriage on November 7, 1959. They started their life in Mankato and were blessed with three children, Robert, Annie, and Katy. Sherry worked at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital for many years, and wanted more quality one on one and chose home health care. Her big heart and soft touch will never be forgotten. Sherry enjoyed her grandchildren, reading, crosswords, playing cards, helping others, coffee, yahtzee, and her two cats. Sherry's strength and grace will always be an inspiration to those who knew her. Her generous spirit, quick wit, captivating laugh, and quirky sense of humor will be greatly missed by all.
Sherry leaves behind a very grateful family to carry on her smiles, laughter, and memories are her children: Robert "Pete" (Michelle) Peterson of Eagle Lake, Anne (Bob) Thompson of Lake Crystal, and Katy (special friend, Bobby Rowcliffe) Winkler of Madison Lake; nine grandchildren: Tina, Jenni (Rich), Bucky (Megan), Joey (Holli), Collin, Shyan, Danielle, Sierra, and Ashton; ten great-grandchildren: Isabel, Ryleigh, Taylor, Landon, Jackson, Caden, Jacob, Andrew, Mikayla, and Kylie.
