Evelyn M. "Evie" Rathai, age 84 of Mankato, died Saturday, October 20, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Seventh Day Adventist Church in Mankato. Burial will be in Medo Central Cemetery in rural Pemberton. Visitation will be held 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the Mayo Clinic Health System Hospice or an organization of the donor's choice.

Evelyn Mae was born February 2, 1928, daughter of Emmett and Iona (Bolinger) Shaw in Blue Earth County, Minnesota. On October 21, 1947, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Rathai in St. Clair. They were blessed with their son, Gary. Evelyn was one of the first women in Mankato to be in the realty business. She had done that for ten years. She also was a bookkeeper for Bollmann Oil Co., and worked in sales at H & C Electric. Evelyn was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Evelyn is survived by her husband of 65 years, Lawrence; son, Gary (Brenda) Rathai; two grandchildren: Terra (Brad Ranum) Rathai and Anthony (Megan) Rathai; two great-grandchildren: Sawyer and Zola Ranum; brother, Randy (Cookie) Shaw; sister-in-law, Clarice Shaw; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Rita (Bernard) Beyer; brother, Marvin Shaw; and three nephews: Jim, Scotty, and Jerry.
