Marjorie Mae Gosewisch, age 92, of Mankato, died Saturday, October 13, 2012 at her home.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 19, 2012 at Mankato Mortuary with Rev. Al Girtz, officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Thursday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before service on Friday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Mankato.
Marjorie Mae (Forsyth) Gosewisch was born in St. James, Minnesota on December 1, 1919, to Elsie (Lehmann) and Willard Forsyth. She was baptized by Reverend T. Mondale in the United Methodist Church in St. James. After eighth grade, she moved to North Mankato, graduating from Mankato High School in 1937 and Mankato State Teachers College in 1941 with a Degree in Kindergarten and Elementary Education.
Early in her career, Marjorie taught in Michigan and Austin, Minnesota for two years, then returned to Mankato where she married Kenneth Gosewisch in 1944. She taught Kindergarten for over 30 years at Lincoln and Roosevelt Schools.
Marjorie was a member of Belgrade Ave. Methodist Church since 1986 and belonged to Epsilon Sigma Alpha International Service Sorority, which did volunteer work for many local and national charities.
Marjorie enjoyed spending time with her family, and the many good friends she made in Mankato. After retiring from teaching, she traveled extensively, collected and made porcelain dolls and enjoyed art projects and decorating. She always loved life and was fun to be with.
Marjorie is survived by two daughters, Heidi (Ron) Torda of Vacaville, California and Wendy (Peter) Israel of Telluride, Colorado; three granddaughters, Erin (Steven) Moore of Denver, Hannah and Sarah Israel; two great-grandchildren, Madeline and Robert Moore; nephews, Richard Clough and Danny Clough both of Burnsville, Tim Clough of Wisconsin, and John Clough; niece, Judith de Pierre of Missouri and nephew, Neal Forsyth of Mankato.
Marjorie was preceeded in death by her mother, Elsie Forsyth; father, Willard Forsyth; sister, Arlyne Clough; and brother, Willard Forsyth.
Marjorie's family would like to thank the Mayo Clinic Hospice workers and her friends, neighbors, Sorority sisters and caregivers who showed Marjorie so much love and compassion in her later life and final days.
