Alan Linus "Alley Cat" Braun, age 52, of Mankato and formerly of Sleepy Eye, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, October 11, 2012, at Mayo Clinic Health System " Mankato following an 11 year battle with cancer.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 p.m., Sunday, October 14, 2012, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato, with Rev. John Kunz officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. on Saturday at Northview " North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, and continues one hour prior to the mass at the church on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Loyola Catholic School or the Palliative Care Department at Mayo Clinic Health System " Mankato.
Alan was born on December 1, 1959, in Sleepy Eye. He was the son of Norbert and Alice (Berberich) Braun. Alan graduated from St. Mary's School in Sleepy Eye in 1978 and from Mankato State University in 1994. He was united in marriage to Lynda Petrowiak on September 6, 1997, in East Chain. Alan was employed as a Manufacturing Engineer with Excel Energy for 25 years. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato. Alan enjoyed skiing, riding his Harley, traveling, fixing things, and especially spending time with his family and friends. One of his greatest attributes was problem-solving.
Alan is survived by his wife, Lynda and their two children, Cole and Ally; twelve siblings in the local area, Margie (Mike) Hoffmann, Jim (Jan) Braun, Marv (Sandi) Braun, Gary (Annette) Braun, Jerome (Lucy) Braun, Daniel (Lori) Braun, Wayne (Jody) Braun, Leon (Lori) Braun, Laurie (Merv) Speckman, Annette (DeLoy) Berkner, Tom (Kelly) Braun of Arizona, and Lisa (Charlie) Trier; also many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
