Marjorie Smith

Marjorie (Mrs. Hayden) Smith, age 88, of Mobridge, South Dakota and formerly of North Mankato, died Thursday, June 3, 2004 in Mobridge.

Memorial services 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. Pauls Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Mankato. Arrangements are being handled by Mankato Mortuary.

Marjorie was born March 23, 1916 in Avoca, Minnesota to Frank and Lucy (Chapman) Mitchell. She graduated from Fulda High School and received two years of nurses aide training at the Vo-Tech School. She married Hayden R. Smith in Fairmont on August 26, 1934. She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Mankato and several area service organizations. She enjoyed flower gardening.

Survivors include her husband, Hayden of Mobridge, SD; two children and their spouses, Delores (Bill) Rice of Mobridge, SD, Kent (Kathy) Smith of Yoncalla, OR; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three siblings, Eleanor Billion of Sioux Falls, SD, Arlyce (Wally) Mumm of Montevideo, MN, Leonard (Jan) Mitchell of Sioux Falls, SD; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, and six siblings.
