Hayden H. Kvam, age 79 of rural Mankato, died Monday, May 10, 2004 at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester.
Funeral service 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Mankato, with Rev. Mary Iverson. Interment in Calvary Cemetery, Rapidan Township, Blue Earth County. Visitation on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at Mankato Mortuary and one hour before services at church on Thursday.
Hayden was born March 16, 1925 in South Bend Township, Blue Earth Co. to Ole and Carolina (Herbst) Kvam. He served in the U. S. Army as a hospital medic during the Korean Conflict. He was united in marriage to Marion M. Probach on June 23, 1951 in Minneapolis, MN. He was a wonderful husband and father for 53 years. He worked for Continental Can Co. for 38 years. After enjoying a 2 month retirement he started to work for Year Round-Cab Co. for 10 years. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Antique Car Club and enjoyed being with friends there. He loved fixing up antique cars and took pride in his Model T Ford and Packards. His pride and joy was his companion dog Maggie .
He is survived by his wife, Marion; a daughter and husband, Karen and Greg Ballman of Kasota; three sons, Keith Kvam of rural Mankato, Timothy Kvam and wife, Kathy of rural Lake Crystal, Kerry Kvam and wife, Sharon of LaSalle; nine grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mildred Kvam of Mankato.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane, grandson, Adam Ballman, and an infant brother, Lyle.
