Barry Bertrand, age 55, of Mankato died Thursday, January 8, 2004, at his home, after a year long battle with cancer.
Memorial services 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Mankato, with Rev. Daphne Hamborg officiating. Interment in Glenwood Cemetery. Visitation from 1"4 p.m. Saturday at Mankato Mortuary. Memorials may be given to Habitat for Humanity or an organization of the donors choice. Mankato Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
Barry was born December 2, 1948 to Alden Bud and Kathleen (LaGow) Bertrand in Mankato. He graduated from Mankato High School in 1966, attended the University of Minnesota and Mankato State University. Barry was active on the wrestling team in both high school and college. He began working at Lloyd Lumber in 1964 and is now co-owner of the business. Barry was united in marriage to Corliss Anderson on April 17, 1971 and was a devoted husband for 32 years. Barry took great pride in his family, loved the outdoors and helping others.
He was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church. He belonged to the following organizations: Mankato Elks Club, Mankato Golf Club, Ducks Unlimited, and Mankato Builders Exchange. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, artifact hunting, and woodworking.
Barry is survived by his loving wife, Corliss; two daughters, Jen Selvey and her husband, Chris of Mankato, Deb Baum and her husband, Chris of Iowa City, IA; three grandsons, Frankie, Ari, and Reed Selvey; mother, Kathleen Bertrand of Madison Lake; two brothers, Tom Bertrand of Mankato, Mike Bertrand and his wife, Carol of North Mankato; two sisters, Linda McAlister and her husband, Lynn of St. Louis, MO, Barb Bertrand and her fianc, Ernie Wagenbach of Remer, MN; aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, and grandparents.
