Orville P. Jensen, age 84 of Mankato, died January 6, 2004 at Hillcrest Health Care Center, Mankato.
Funeral services 10:00 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with Rev. Richard Colletti officiating. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at Mankato Mortuary and one hour before services at church on Saturday.
Orville Peter Jensen was born August 13, 1919 in Clare, Iowa to Carl and Mary (Linnemeyer) Jensen. He attended country school in the Grand Meadow and Fairmont area. He served in the U. S. Army in World War II from March 1941 until September 1945 when he was honorably discharged. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star on July 17, 1945 for heroic achievement of service in connection with operations against an opposing armed force in Europe. He married Elaine Mary Miller on January 8, 1958 in LeCenter. They lived in LeCenter form 1958 to 1969 and then moved to Vista, CA. He retired from the Vista California School District and returned to Minnesota making their home in Mankato in 1981. Orville was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato. He enjoyed spending time with his family, bowling, fishing, gardening, and traveling.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine Jensen of Mankato; four sons, Tom Jensen of Mankato, Chris Jensen of Mankato, Earl Jensen of Eagle Lake, Mark Jensen and his wife, Michelle of Burnsville; a daughter, Karen Jensen of North Mankato; two grandchildren, Cole and Dillon Jensen of Burnsville; a brother, Wilbur Jensen of Palm Desert, CA; two sisters, Marlene Hiller
of Blue Earth, Ellen Odom of Austin, TX, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, George; sister, Irene, and an infant sister.
