James Jim Everette Hunter, age 72 died January 4, 2004 at Immanuel-St. Josephs Hospital in Mankato. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Hosanna Lutheran Church in Mankato with Pastor Steve Kosberg officiating. Burial at a later date in St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in St. Clair. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Hosanna Lutheran Church and continues one hour before services. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Hosanna Lutheran Church. Mankato Mortuary is handling arrangements.
Jim was born October 3, 1931 in Roanoke, Virginia to James and Alyce (Coverstone) Hunter. He graduated from Jefferson High School in Roanoke, served two years in the Marine Guards and four years in the US Air Force. He married Ivadell Myers on June 20, 1954 in St. Clair. Jim owned the Hunters Produce in St. Clair for nine years. He worked at Kato Engineering and later for Jones Metal Products as a purchasing agent. Jim enjoyed traveling, spending time at their trailer up north, fishing, watching sports, hunting, and woodworking.
Survivors include his wife, Ivadell of Mankato; daughter, Vivian Lyons of Mankato; son, Keith Hunter and his wife, Lisa of St. Peter; two grandchildren, Lindsey Stelter and Tanner Hunter; three step grandchildren, Melany, Tim, and Patricia Weyland; sister-in-law, Bev Born of Mankato; brother-in-law, Wallace Myers of Florida; foster sister-in-law, Jeanette Drake of Winona; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law, and a great-nephew.
