Marilyn J. Hagen, age 71 of Mankato died Monday, December 29, 2003, at Immanuel-St. Josephs Hospital, Mankato.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Mankato with Rev. Paul D. Nolting officiating. Interment in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 " 7 p.m. Friday at Mankato Mortuary and continue one hour before services at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Hagen was born May 5, 1932 to Edwin and Mathilda Radtke in Wauwatosa, WI. Marilyn graduated from DMLC in New Ulm and graduated from MSU " Mankato with a degree in special education. She was united in marriage to Roger J. Hagen on August 2, 1953 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Marilyn taught school at Immanuel Lutheran School in Gibbon and later at Immanuel Lutheran Grade School in Mankato. She also taught special education for the New Ulm Public Schools. Marilyn sewed draperies for Bretts Dept. Store. She became a quadriplegic in July of 1977 due to an auto accident. Following the accident she tutored adults and taught piano. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mankato, where she served as organist and participated in the Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Blue Earth Co. Extension. She enjoyed hot, sunny days and watching birds and other animals.
She is survived by three sons and their wives, Marcus and Cheryl Hagen of North Branch, David and Annette Hagen of Mankato, Bradley Hagen of Eagan, MN; five grandchildren, Andy, Matt, Sam, Ben and Leah Hagen; two brothers, Rev. Gordon Radtke and wife, Claudine of Eau Claire, WI, Rev. Marvin Radtke and wife, Helen of Hayward, WI; two sisters-in-law, Sharon Hagen of Bloomington, MN, Julie Schuester and husband, Lance of Kenyon, MN; brother-in-law, Jim Hagen and wife, Linda of Lafayette, CO; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a grandson.
