Shirley Stevens

Shirley Jean Stevens, age 72, of Mankato, died Tuesday, December 30, 2003 at her home.

Memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2004 at the First Baptist Church, Lake Crystal, with Pastor Jerry David officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services at church on Friday. If so desired memorials may be given to ISJ Hospice Program, V.I.N.E. or First Baptist Church of Lake Crystal. Lake Crystal Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

Shirley was born October 24, 1931 to Emma (Morud) and Marvin Duncan at Cass Lake, MN. She graduated in 1949 from Augustana Academy in Canton, SD. She attended college at Gustavus Adolphus and Mankato State.

She married John Stevens on July 11, 1953. They later divorced. She worked at a number of restaurants, including the Holiday House, Michaels and Bobby Jos Pub. She also worked for Midtex, Electrolux and Young America. Shirley enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, reading and the Minnesota Twins.

Shirley is survived by her children, Susanne Hytjan and her husband, Randy of Lake Crystal, Nancy Rasmussen and her husband, Dave of Mankato, Katherine Rhee of Hillsboro, OR and John Stevens and his wife, Deb of North Mankato; grandchildren, Erin, Joseph and Matthew Neubert, Barbara and Cassandra Hytjan, Andrew and Sara Garry, Molly and Benjamin Rasmussen, Brian, Maika, Nathan, Marissa and Kaelin Rhee, and Jennifer and Jeffrey Stevens.
