Olive M. Blumenshein, age 101 of Mankato, died Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 18, 2011 at Seventh Day Adventist Church with Rev. Robert Brauer officiating. Burial will be in Minneopa Cemetery. Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Mankato Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements.
Olive Mae was born November 15, 1909 to Henry and Sarah (Keiper) Severns in McCook County, NE. She attended Mankato Normal School, now known as Minnesota State University, Mankato. Olive taught country school for two years in the Amboy area. On November 8, 1936, she was united in marriage to Raymond H. Blumenshein in Mankato. Olive's favorite times were when they lived at Lake Washington and all of the family would get together. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, feeding the birds, and crocheting. Olive was an active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church which was important to her. Olive was known to be a very independent lady.
Olive is survived by her three children: Darryl (Katherine) Blumenshein of Coal Valley, IL, Lynn (Rose) Blumenshein of rural Kasota and Dawn (Robert) Kaiser of Madelia; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Karsten (Beverly) Severns; and several nieces and nephews.
Olive was preceded in death by her husband in 1971; an infant son, Dennis;
and five siblings, Vernon, Noreen, Grace, Alvin, and EuDean.
