Rick Charles Pearson, age 55, of Mankato left this world peacefully Sunday February 13, 2011 at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato surrounded by his family after a courageous and valiant 12 year battle with cancer.

A Celebration of Rick's Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 18, 2011 at Hilltop United Methodist Church, Mankato with Rev. Fred Vanderwerf officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Hilltop United Methodist Church, Mankato and will continue one hour before service at church on Friday. Burial will be at a later date in Le Sueur Cemetery. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Rick Pearson Benefit Fund at US Bank.

Rick was born on March 24, 1955 in Mankato to Charles and Elaine (Reinhardt) Pearson. He grew up in Le Sueur and graduated from Le Sueur High School in 1973. Rick continued his education at Hutchinson Technical College. Rick was married to Julie Schleeve, that marriage was blessed with two children, they later divorced. He was married to his soulmate and best friend, Wendy Wolfe Kirklen on February 15, 2003.

Rick worked in the automotive industry all of his life and from June 1991 until the present was employed by Mankato Motors (Clements) of Mankato. He was an active member of Hilltop United Methodist Church. Rick enjoyed hockey, boxing, and motorcycling in his youth. Later he loved hunting, fishing, cars, and yard work of which he took great pride. Rick and Wendy also enjoyed taking vacations, small weekends away and he cherished time with his children and family and getting together for family gatherings.

Rick will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and brother-in-law.

Rick's spirit lives on in his wife, Wendy of Mankato; his two children, Daniel (Kayleigh) Pearson of Le Sueur, Emily Pearson and special friend, Brandon Buesgens of St. Peter; father, Charles "Bud" Pearson of Le Sueur; sister, Linda O'Malley of Mankato; his four legged best friend, Eddie; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

His spirit has joined his mother, Elaine who died in 2002 and his grandparents.

Rick's strength and bravery will always be an inspiration to those who knew him. His generous spirit, quick wit, and sense of humor will be greatly missed by all.
