Susan Martha Allbee (Nesheim), 63, of Waverly, IA and formerly of Mankato, passed away Saturday, February 5th, in Minneapolis, MN at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, North Mankato with Rev. Jim Ahlquist officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5-7 at North Mankato Mortuary-NORTHVIEW (2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato, MN) and will also continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery.

She was born on October 11th, 1947 in Mankato, MN. Susan earned her bachelors' and masters degrees at the University of Northern Iowa and continued as an instructor of Sociology and Women's Studies. She enjoyed challenging her students to think globally, explore other views, and appreciate their differences. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, daughter, and grandmother. Susan was an avid quilter and lover of peace. Her enduring positive attitude allowed her to survive her battle with pulmonary fibrosis for 12 years.

Susan is survived by her husband Dwight, daughter Katia of Waverly, IA, son Eamon (Dawn) of Tinley Park, IL, mother, Sylvia Nesheim of Mankato MN, brother Steven Nesheim (Debra Elmore-Nesheim) of Bayfield, WI, sister Toni Nesheim (Denny Salomonson) of Grayslake, IL, brother John (Marie) Nesheim of Woodbury, MN, grandchildren; Sean, Ian, Isabella and one due in June, aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her are her father Glen, brother, David and niece Rachel Salomonson.
