Dorothy Louise Reese went to join her Lord on January 28, 2011 at ISJ hospital in Mankato, MN. She was 94.

Dorothy was born in rural Manchester, SD on May 8, 1916 to Asbury (Berry) Nelson and Minerva (Lena) (Bruce) Nelson. She was baptized at the United Methodist Church in Esmond South Dakota. She was united in marriage to William Reese on March 27, 1940. They had seven children. She lived her entire life in South Dakota, mainly in Esmond Township where she and her husband farmed and raised their children. During her life she was a school board member and a township assessor and was active in the ladies groups at church.

Dorothy loved making various crafts and was especially fond of writing bible verses and cute sayings on rocks which she would then varnish and give to special people. She would talk often of her love for her animals especially her chickens, turkeys and ducks.

Dorothy had seven children Shirley (Harlan) Lieske of Mankato, Mn., Sally (Edward) Tande of Mendota Heights, Mn., Carol (Monte) Savage of Mankato, Mn., Joan (Larry) Prange of Rural Janesville, Mn., Robert (Debi) Reese of Sioux Falls, SD., Tammy (Kevin) Peterson of Iroquois SD., and Judy Reese. She was blessed with seventeen grand children, thirty-two great grand children and four great great grand children. She is also survived by one sister-in-law Eileen Nelson of Sioux Falls, SD.

Dorothy was preceeded in death by her parents, husband Bill and by two daughters Judy and Shirley. Also two brothers Martin Nelson and Merle Nelson and one sister Mabel Meyer (McAlister).

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, February 4, 2011 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Iroquois, SD with Rev. Kris Larson officiating. Burial will be at the Maplewood Cemetery, Iroquois. Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Thursday, February 3rd at the church and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
