She was born in Duluth, Minnesota on July 13, 1922, daughter of Allan George Brouse and Jessie Lozira Boutin. Her family included four sisters and a brother, all of whom preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by Holly Joseph Casper, her husband of 55 years; a son Grant; granddaughters Shari and Molly; and many friends.

Despite being partially paralyzed by a stroke in 1986 and afflicted with cancer, she lived on her own in Waterville, Minnesota and later in Alexandria for some fourteen years after her husband's death. Only in the last few months of her life did she seek care in a nursing home.

She will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her remarkable courage and tenacity, and her cheerful manner showing itself in a smile that never left her.

She is survived by sons, James (Katherine) of London, England; Mark (Mary) of Fergus Falls, Minnesota; daughters, Anne Hueper (Dave) of Blue Earth; Linda Filler (James) of Alexandria; and Stella Oelke (John) of Elysian, all in Minnesota. Also surviving are 30 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren, along with friends both old and new.
