Karl Mutch, age 61, of Mankato, died on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 20 at 11:00 a.m. at Belgrade Avenue United Methodist Church in North Mankato with Rev. Bart Fletcher officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Karl was born on September 19, 1949 in Weisbaden, Germany. He moved to the United States in 1957 with his mother, Eva. His mother married Richard Mutch, who then adopted Karl. Karl was drafted into the United States Army. He worked for Meyer and Sons for ten years and also worked various odd jobs in the Mankato area. Karl was a great father and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. He liked reading and talking politics. He was an avid football fan, especially enjoyed watching the Vikings.

He is survived by his fianc", Shannon Murphy of Mankato; daughter, Erika Mutch and Blake Stoltman of Mankato; brothers, Peter and Timothy; sisters, Kimberlina Schwarz and Erika H"tzen. He was preceded in death by his mother Eva in 2007, father, Richard, and birth father, Karl Betke.
