LuElla was born June 5, 1919 to Gustav and Helen Urban in rural Willow Creek, MN. Along with siblings, LuElla grew up on the family farm, graduated from Willow Creek grade school and worked as a hired hand in the community. On October 12, 1941, she was united in marriage to Harold Doering. Together they raised four children: Roger, Jerry, Judy and Vickie. Along with Harold, LuElla managed the family farm. Later, she went to work as the stock room manager at JC Penney's in Mankato. Upon completing that job, she worked at the Mapleton Community Home as a kitchen aide. LuElla took great joy in her lawn, shrubs and puppy, Pepper. She canned fruits, liked to bake for others, and was particularly well known for her canned meat, a legacy she recently passed on to her daughters. With advancing age and worsening health, Harold and Lu moved to a home south of Mankato. In March of 2009, Lu became a resident at the Mapleton Community Home.

LuElla is survived by her sons: Roger Doering of rural Mankato and Jerry (Carol) Doering of Mankato; her daughters: Judy (Doug) Osland of Oakdale and Vickie (Tom Gerenz) Wright of Roseville; six grandchildren: Justin Doering, Amanda Tourville, Elan Wright, Morgan Wright, Brent Osland and Kim Osland; two great-grandchildren: Malik Butler and Sydney Osland; and two sisters: Verona Wilde and Gladys Belgard of Truman.

LuElla was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Melvin, Hartwin and Bernard Urban; and sisters: Leona Chamberlain and Elvera Wegner.
