David LeRoy Northamer, age 70, of Mankato, died Sunday, January 16, 2011, at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital, Mankato.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 20, 2011, at Centenary United Methodist Church, Mankato. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Mankato Mortuary and continue one hour prior to the service at the church. A spring burial will be held at North Willow Creek Cemetery.
Dave was born August 23, 1940, to Beaver and Grace (Russell) Northamer in Mankato. He graduated from Mankato High School in 1958 and served in the U.S. Air Force in San Antonio for a brief time. Dave was united in marriage to Marilyn Urban at Centenary United Methodist Church on December 20, 1980. He worked for Marigold Dairy and North Star Concrete before working for SMC for 28 years, until his retirement. Dave enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed ceramics, stained glass, woodworking, cooking, gardening, cars and dancing. Dave always put others first and showed great consideration for his neighbors with mowing, gardening and shoveling snow.
Dave is survived by his wife, Marilyn; children, Shawna Darwin, Shannon Northamer, Dave (Kathy) Northamer, Peg Brandt, Capt (USAF) Jim Northamer, Bill Northamer; eight grandchildren; siblings, Shirley Thoele and Bev (Duane) Cox; sister-in-law, Pat Northamer; two sisters-in-law: Linda (Lee) Hiller and Janice (John) FitzSimmons; previous wife, Sharon Larson; former father-in-law, William R. Cutts, Sr. and many extended family members and friends.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Beaver and Grace Northamer; parents-in-law, Wilton and Mildred Urban, Kathryn Cutts; a grandson, Vic Roller; brothers, Willard and Archie Northamer; an infant brother; three sisters-in-law, Fran, Claire and Rosie Northamer; brother-in-law, Marvin Thoele.
