Alfred G Sigfusson

Alfred G. Sigfusson, age 82, of Mankato, MN died Friday, January 14, 2011 at Laurel's Peak in Mankato. A Celebration Service will be held at Mankato Mortuary at 11 a.m. Monday, January 24, 2011 with visitation one hour prior to service.

Al was born April 10, 1928 to Bjarni and Thruda (Geston) Sigfusson in Thingvalla Township, Pembina County, North Dakota. He graduated from Edinburg High School in 1946. Al worked on a potato farm while caring for his parents until their deaths in the early 1960's. In 1964 Al moved to Mankato to be with his first family at which time he worked at Honeymead as a Security Guard with Pinkerton Services.

On August 26, 1985, Al was united in marriage to Mary Supalla Beckius in Mankato. He continued to work at Honeymead until his final retirement at the age of 77. Before his illness, he loved the lake and fishing. When Al was forced to take it easy; the TV became his best friend. He enjoyed passing time watching anything with music, sports, Young and the Restless and crime shows. But Al's greatest enjoyment came playing the cards with Chuck and his friends at the Moose Lodge and Hooligans.

Al is survived by his wife, Mary; daughters, Pat (Earl) Hutton, Cross Creek, MN; Donna (Harlan) Denn, Dublin, TX; son, John (Sharon) O'Keefe, Mankato; step-daughter, Tammy (Art) Winker, Glidden, IA; step-son, Mike (Ann) Beckius, Mankato and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Stoney; wife, Dorothy; daughter, Mary; grandson, Gary and nephew, Brad.
