World War II Veteran, Anton Peter Reintjes, born August 21, 1922 to Charles Reintjes and Louise (Zimmerman) Reintjes passed away May 4, 2004.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at All Saints Catholic Church in Madison Lake with Rev. Patrick Arens. Visitation Thursday from 3-7 p.m. at All Saints Catholic Church, with a 7 p.m. prayer service and one hour before services Friday. Burial with Military Honors in Calvary Cemetery, Madison Lake. Memorials may be given to All Saints School or an organization of the donors choice. Mankato Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
Tony attended Rural District 6 School, Cleveland High School and Mankato Teachers College. He Served in the United States Army European Theater of Operations, 78th Infantry from 1943-1945. Tony was a recipient of the Combat Infantry Badge, the Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal with Cluster and two battle stars. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Tony served as a School Board member, a District Catholic School Board member for two years and Washington Township Supervisor for 7 years. He was a Madison Lake RFD Carrier for 30 years. Tony served as a member of the Madison Lake Volunteer Fire Department for 24 years, 21 of which were as Fire Chief.
Tony had been an active member of the American Legion since 1946. He was a Historical Society Member and member of All Saints Parish.
Tony is survived by his wife, Sally Reintjes, six children, LeAnne (Rick) Jones of Blue Jay, CA, Mary (Gary) Haase of Cleveland, Alane (Frank) Reichel of North Mankato, Margie (Paul) Leitelt of Munster, IN, Geralynn (Jerry) Kottschade of Madison Lake, and Mark (Cindy) Reintjes of North Mankato; 12 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren; sister, Iverna (Cyril) Fasnacht, of Mankato; sisters-in-law, Helen Chatlean of Mankato, Lorraine Schraml of Madison Lake, Zita Rohlfing of Cleveland, Dorothy (Duane) Rasdall of Cleveland, Lucille (Lyle) Grothe of Madison Lake, Tilda Schneider of Madison Lake, brothers-in-law, Joseph Fasnacht of Elysian, Robert (June) Fasnacht of Madison Lake, and several nieces and nephews.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Timothy; brothers and their wives, Art and Alice Reintjes, Lon and Caddy Reintjes, and Chuck and Irene Reintjes; sister and her husband, Helen and Jack Kopp, brothers-in-law, Louis Chatlean, Francis Schraml, Robert Rohlfing, John Rohlfing, Eddie Schneider, Jerome Fasnacht and his wife, Evie, sister-in-law, Marcella Fasnacht; and a step-great-grandson.
