George B. Leffel, age 70, of Mapleton, died Sunday, April 25, 2004 at his home. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday at St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mankato. Arrangements by Mankato Mortuary.
George was born October 8, 1933 to Samuel and Lillie (Persinger) Leffel in Vernon Center. He attended Rapidan Public School until he entered the US Air Force. George married Joann Oachs on October 19, 1956 in Mankato. He worked at Continental Can until he retired at age 55. He was a member of St. Marks Lutheran Church and an active member of the NRA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, reading and being with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Joann Leffel of Mapleton; three sons, Larry Leffel of Golden Valley, Kevin Leffel and wife, Sandy of Mankato, Kraig Leffel and wife, Shirley of San Antonio, TX; two daughters, Holly Kaduce and husband, Mark of Mapleton, Michelle Leffel of Two Harbors; five grandchildren, Cody and Caleb Kaduce, Marissa and Courtney Brown, Nicole Leffel; a sister, Ruby Flake of Saugus, CA; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws, including his mother-in-law, Barbara Oachs of Mankato. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
