Good Thunder resident, Shirleyann Bergemann, age 70, died Tuesday morning, April 13, 2004 at Oaklawn Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. John Lutheran Church in Good Thunder with Rev. Rudolph H. Maurer, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Memorials are preferred to St. John Lutheran School.
Shirleyann was born June 23, 1933 in Elysian to Lawrence and Pauline (Kaupa) Seewald. She grew up in Southern Minnesota and attended elementary and high school in Good Thunder. She graduated from Mankato Commercial College and was employed by NSP in the billing department. On May 11, 1952, she married Melvin Bergemann at St. John Lutheran Church in Good Thunder. She continued working at NSP until their first child, Joyce, was born in 1953. She then became a stay-at-home housewife and mother. Later, she went to work part-time in Good Thunder at Als Locker Plant and Bruske Hardware. Since 1991, she and her husband spent winter months at their home in Apache Junction, AZ. This continued until January 2004, when illness forced them to return to Minnesota. Shirleyann was a devoted mother and wife, who loved her family, the Lord, and life. She enjoyed needlework, craftwork, gardening, and reading.
Shirleyann is survived by her husband, Melvin of Good Thunder; three sons, Richard Bergemann of Scottsdale, AZ, Larry Bergemann and wife, Gail of Good Thunder, Dale Bergemann of Mankato and his special friend, Jane Chatleain of North Mankato; four grandchildren, Dana of Sunrise, AZ, Crystal of Boston, MA, Ryan and Rachel of Good Thunder; one great-granddaughter, Kayla; daughter-in-law, Sue Bergemann of Phoenix, AZ; sister, Norita Olson of Escondido, CA; two sisters-in-law, Norma Peters and husband, Dean of Good Thunder, Pat Bergemann of Hartley, IA; brother-in-law, Hilbert Bergemann and wife, Arlene of Good Thunder; many friends and relatives of Minnesota and numerous winter friends from all over the country.
Shirleyann was preceded in death by her mother in 1967; father in 1973; and her daughter in 1971.
