Agnes B Schmidt

Agnes B. Schmidt, age 99, of Mankato died Friday, March 26, 2004 at Hillcrest Health Care Center.

Funeral service 3:00 p.m. Monday, March 29, 2004 at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Mankato, with Rev. John Petersen. Interment in Calvary Cemetery, St. Peter. Visitation on Monday from 1:30-3:00 p.m. at the church. If so desired memorials may be given to Christ the King Lutheran Church or an organization of the donors choice. Mankato Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Schmidt was born February 2, 1905 in rural Pope County, MN to Skak and Bertha (Barsness) Barsness. Agnes was united in marriage to Charles L. Schmidt on September 12, 1936 in Starbuck, MN. They farmed near Lake Crystal for many years, where she was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church and Loon Lake Extension Club. She moved to Mankato in 1977 and was a homemaker and member of Christ the King Lutheran Church. She had been a resident of Hillcrest Health Care Center since 1994. Her family gratefully appreciated all the care and kindness given to her by Hillcrests staff over those years. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, baking, music, and her grandchildren.

She is survived by four children, Vernon Schmidt and wife, Virginia of Carrollton, TX, Gen Thompson of Lake Crystal, Helen Miller and husband, Kenneth of Richfield, Charles Bud Schmidt and wife, Jean of rural Garden City; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; many nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her husband in June of 1975; six siblings, Scotty, Scotty, Annie, Ella, Peder and Oscar.
