Evelyn was born on August 17, 1914 to John and Amelia (Biesterfeld) Gosch in Walnut Lake, MN. Evelyn grew up in the Mankato area, attended school in Mankato and graduated from Mankato High School in 1933. She married Harold Lanz, Sr. on April 9, 1934 at Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato. They were blessed with six children during her 70 years of marriage. Evelyn spent most of her life in the Mankato area on farms with her husband, enjoying her children and doing things for everyone. She loved to cook for her whole family and Sunday dinner was her favorite with all her children and grandchildren surrounding her. She shared her cooking skills by working at Hillcrest Health Care Center for five years and the Century Club in North Mankato for six years. Evelyn retired in 1978 and continued to live on the farm in Belgrade Township until moving to Oak Park Assisted Living in August 1999 and then to the Mankato Lutheran Home in February 2000 until she passed away.
Evelyn was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother always welcoming her children and grandchildren to share her love with her kitty, Cuddles . She loved baking and cooking for everyone, knitting, crocheting, gardening, playing cards and of course, the Minnesota Twins. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her husband. One of her greatest joys was dancing with her husband to old time music, which in their younger days was a weekly outing.
