Thomas L. Richards III, age 69, of Mankato, died unexpectedly Tuesday, March 9, 2004 in Mesa, Arizona.
Funeral service 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, at First Presbyterian Church, Mankato, with Rev. Dawn Carder officiating. Interment in Glenwood Cemetery. Visitation on Monday from 4-8 p.m. at Mankato Mortuary and one hour before services at church on Tuesday. Memorials may be given to the First Presbyterian Church Endowment Fund, Salvation Army, Boy Scouts of America, Glenwood Cemetery, or an organization of the donors choice.
Tom was born April 24, 1934, in Philadelphia, PA to Thomas L. Jr. and Marie (Stadtman) Richards. He graduated from Davenport High School, Davenport, IA in 1952. Tom attended DePauw University, Green Castle, IN, the University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA and graduated from Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis. He was united in marriage to Marcia Jones on February 11, 1956, in Iowa City, IA. He retired from Katolight Corporation, after 40 years, in 2001. Tom was active serving the community both professionally and personally and those interactions greatly enriched his life. He also enjoyed traveling, golfing, fishing, and stamp collecting.
He is survived by his wife, Marcia Jones Richards of Mankato; three children, Jessica Richards-Palmquist and her husband, Mike, of Fort Collins, CO, Sarah Richards, of Cannon Falls, David Richards and his wife, Kristee, of Lake Crystal; four grandchildren, Ellen, Reid, Carter and Jack Henry; his brother, Barry A. Richards and wife Phyllis, of Pueblo, CO and 3 nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
