James E. Rogers, age 84, of North Mankato and formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Wednesday, March 3, 2004 at Immanuel-St. Josephs Hospital in Mankato.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato with Rev. Peter Nosbush, officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, IA. Memorials are preferred to the American Heart Association. Mankato Mortuary is handling arrangements.
James was born September 21, 1919 in Parker, South Dakota to Frank L. and Lena M. (Swenning) Rogers. He graduated from high school in Iowa and attended business school for two years. On May 15, 1945, he married Margaret Rowena Orr in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. They lived in South Dakota and Minnesota before making their home of 63 years in Cedar Rapids. In September 2003, they moved to North Mankato to be near family. They most recently attended St. Matthews Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. During the mid 1940s, James began his career with Russell Guides Inc. and retired as Vice President in 1981. He was a 50 year member of the Printers Union.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Rogers of North Mankato, MN; two sons, Patrick Rogers and wife, Molly Madden of Mankato, Michael Rogers and wife, Christine of Aurora, CO; daughter-in-law, Debbie Rogers-Griswold of Fallbrook, CA; six grandchildren, Jason, Michael, Nicholas, Jordan, Adrienne, and Rebecca; sister, Velma Mohr of Encinitas, CA; many nieces and nephews, including, Roger and Mary Mart of Cedar Rapids, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Thomas, an infant sister, Beatrice, and a sister, Ruth Mart.
