Ramona Nelson

Ramona F. Nelson, age 84, of Mankato died Tuesday, March 2, 2004, at Immanuel-St. Josephs Hospital.

Funeral service 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 5, 2004 at the First Presbyterian Church, in Mankato with Rev. Paul Collier officiating. Burial will be in Hebron Cemetery, Nicollet Township, Nicollet County. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Mankato Mortuary and continues one hour before services at church on Friday. Memorials may be given to the First Presbyterian Church or an organization of the donors choice.

Ramona was born October 3, 1919 to Wesley and Ruth (Whitcomb) Vrooman in Nicollet Township, Nicollet County. She graduated from Nicollet High School. She married John Taylor in January of 1940 in Albert City, Iowa. John died in November of 1970. She married Allen Nelson on February 9, 1974 in Mankato. Ramona worked for Mid-tex in Mankato for over 30 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, American Legion Auxiliary Post #11, and the Eagle Lake Golden Eagles. She enjoyed traveling, card playing, and reading.

Ramona is survived by her husband, Allen Nelson; son, Earl Taylor and his wife, Sharon all of Mankato; daughter, Betty Laborde and her husband, Roy of rural Good Thunder; six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Leland Vrooman and his wife, Anita of Cleveland, Tennessee; one sister, Lulu Cossins of Minneapolis; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceded in death by her first husband and a sister.
