Robert "Bob" J. Koppen, age 92 of North Mankato, died Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at Oak Terrace Living in North Mankato.
Funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, October 16, 2010 at North Mankato Mortuary " NORTHVIEW, 2060 Commerce Drive in North Mankato with Rev. Bart Fletcher officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m., until the service Saturday. Burial will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park. Memorials may be given to the donor's choice.
Bob was born August 16, 1918 to John and Sophie (Leonard) Koppen in North Mankato. He graduated from Mankato High School and attended school for engineering. Bob served his country in the U.S. Army infantry during World War II and received two Purple Hearts. Bob was united in marriage to Betty Woessner in 1940, she died in 1970. He then married Lois Lind in June of 1971. Bob worked for the State of Minnesota for 20 years. He then held the position of Nicollet County Highway engineer for 23 years before retiring in 1982.
He was a member of Belgrade United Methodist Church in North Mankato and the Kiwanis of North Mankato " Golden Club for many years. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.
Bob is survived by his wife, Lois Lind Koppen of North Mankato; five daughters, Katherine (Patrick) Burt of Mt. Vernon, WA, JoAnne Gustafson of North Mankato, Kristin Lind Koppen of Shorewood, MN, Rebecca (Stan) Perl of Washington DC, Patricia (Leslie) Stanwood of Coupeville, WA; three sons, Richard (Ruth) Koppen of Sioux Falls, SD, Jim (Margaret) Koppen of Colorado Springs, CO, Donn (Laurie) Lind of Spring Green, WI; 16 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, one brother, Otto, two sisters, Inez and Gertrude.
