Lyle Fields, age 83, of North Mankato, died on Sunday, October 10, 2010 at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 13 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Rev. Peter Nosbush officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Lyle was born on May 9, 1927 in Mankato to Russell and Pearl (Emmick) Fields. Lyle served in the United States Army from 1946-1947. On September 25, 1947, he was united in marriage to Elaine Hund. Lyle worked as a bricklayer for many years. He was a gold card member of Bricklayers Local #11 of Mankato. Lyle enjoyed woodworking and made many pieces of furniture for his family members. He loved fishing, making pies and sharing his recipes with his granddaughters. He spent time researching genealogy, gardening, playing cribbage, and spending summers at the lake cabin.
Lyle is survived by his children: David (Molly) Fields and Lynn (Patrick) Reed both of Mankato, Dale Fields of Clemons, IA, and Leslie Fields of St. Peter; grandchildren: Becky Cromwell, Catherine Fields, Paty Fields, Bridget Sook Ja Nam, Jenn (Nate) Huettl, Mike (Jenny) Reed, Rachel (John) Kinny, Erin (Rob) Erhlich, Lisa (Gothan) Krocak, Joleene Patterson (Michael Bowe), and Daniel Patterson (Sheyna McCarthy); eleven great-grandchildren; and one brother, Warren Fields of Vancouver, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister, Shirley Laird, and brother, Donald Fields.
