Evelyn D. Buck, age 89, longtime resident of Garden City, died Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at Pathstone Living.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Garden City Baptist Church with Rev. Harvey Hallada, officiating. Visitation will be held Friday (TODAY) from 5-7 at the Lake Crystal Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Garden City Cemetery. Lake Crystal Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Evelyn was born January 16, 1921 in Garden City to Jesse and Luola (Nickerson) Fleming. She graduated from Garden City High School. On June 11, 1944 Evelyn was united in marriage to Gerald Buck in Lake Crystal. She was the secretary for the Garden City Public School for 18 years and was a clerk typist for Mankato State University for 9 years. Evelyn enjoyed knitting, crocheting and was a lifelong TWINS fan. She loved flowers and birds.
Evelyn was survived by her children: Glenn (Trudy) of Mankato, Sharon (Tom) Mendenhall of Ramsey, Larry (Judy) of North Mankato, and Kay Hoeft of North Mankato; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley (Don) Chryst; two brothers, Clayton Fleming and Darrell (Lula) Fleming; one sister-in-law, Marge Fleming; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law, Tom Hoeft, two sisters, and one brother.
