Nell Montis

Nell F. Montis, age 95 of Mankato, died Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at Oaklawn Health Care Center.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 24, 2010 at Hosanna Lutheran Church with Rev. Andy Ritchie officiating. Burial will be in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in St. Clair. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Mankato Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements.

Nell Fern was born to Christ and Mabel (Friday) Doss on September 24, 1914 in Sioux Falls, SD. On December 20, 1932, she was united in marriage to Kenneth W. Montis in Flandreau, SD. They were married for over 74 years.

Nell is survived by her 2 daughters, Artha J. Witt of North Mankato and Bonnie J. Cords of Mankato; daughter-in-law, Shirley Montis of WA; 7 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Dallas Doss of WI, Darrell (Sheryl) Doss of Edina and Edward Doss of WA; 2 sisters, Larrain (Harvey) Anderson of Eagle Lake and Lois (Frank) Jewison of Janesville; sister-in-law, Pam Doss of Albert Lea; and many nieces and nephews.

Nell was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth in 2007; 1 son, Kenneth Jr.; 1 grandchild; 1 sister and 3 brothers.
