Lauren John Guentzel, age 73 of Madison Lake, died Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital.
Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 18, 2010 at Mankato Mortuary. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m., Friday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before service on Saturday.
Lauren was born January 5, 1937 to Ervin and Charlotte "Lottie" (Johnson) Guentzel in Mankato. He graduated from Mankato High School in 1955. Lauren served his country with the U.S. Army from 1955-58 serving in France. He was united in marriage to Mariann Hintze on May 2, 1964 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Mankato. They later divorced. He was employed by Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital as laundry manager for 46 years. Lauren was a member of AA and the Dry Riders. He enjoyed playing cards, spending time with his family, watching his grandchildren in sports, riding his Harley, and Shadow, the family dog.
Lauren is survived by his former wife and good friend, Mariann Guentzel of Emily, MN; two daughters, Tamie (Doug) Lorentz of Madison Lake and Shelly Guentzel of Emily; three grandsons, Andrew R., Adam, and Cody Lorentz of Madison Lake; many cousins and friends.
Lauren was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Lauren Jr. and Baby Boy Guentzel.
