Robert Albert Sunthimer

Robert Albert Sunthimer, age 87 of Apple Valley, MN, died Sunday, September 12, 2010 at Augustana Health Care Center in Apple Valley.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Mankato Mortuary with Rev. Jeffery Enfield officiating. Burial will be in Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be held one hour before the service on Thursday.

Robert Sunthimer was born December 4, 1922 to Albert and Edna (Weaver) Sunthimer in Van Nuys, CA. Robert proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army. During his life he worked for the Barry Sewell Co. and Northwest Airlines security before retiring.

Robert was a member of Mount Olivet Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. He enjoyed gardening and fishing.

Robert is survived by his wife, Alice Sunthimer of Apple Valley; one sister, Barbara (Weldon) Geis of Oklahoma; two brothers-in-law, Henry Mathwig of Waldorf, and Richard Mathwig of Mankato; one sister-in-law, Ethel Mathwig of St. Peter; special nephew, Bobby (Gerri) Gjerde of Savage; also many other nephews, nieces, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Robert Ray Sunthimer, and sister Betty Haworth.
