Louise Brostrom, age 90 formerly of Mankato, died Monday, September 13, 2010 at the Mapleton Community Home.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 16, 2010 at Mankato Mortuary with Rev. Lisa Bodenheim officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the mortuary.
Louise was born March 6, 1920 to Charles and Alta (Strickland) Gilbert in Lake City, MN. She graduated from Wabasha High School and attended a two year college. On April 29, 1939, Louise was united in marriage to Vern Brostrom in Wabasha. She was a secretary for seven years at Grace Lutheran Church, then a printer at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital for ten years. Louise loved to travel and take pictures. She was also known as a great baker who made wonderful gingersnaps, pecan rolls, Russian tea cakes, and Lefse. Louise enjoyed her family, playing cards, and knitting.
Louise is survived by her daughter, Ann Bramer of Minnesota Lake; seven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Vern in 1998; daughter and son-in-law: Janet and Edward Christnagel; granddaughter, Julie Christnagel; son-in-law, Allan Bramer; two brothers; one sister; and two half-brothers.
