Elvera M. Sanftner, age 83, of Mankato, died on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at Laurel's Peak (Mankato House).
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 11 at 11:00 a.m. at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Elvera was born on October 26, 1926 in Mankato to John and Eleanor (Schulte) Herz. On November 14, 1956 Elvera was united in marriage to Robert Sanftner at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Together they farmed in Mankato for many years. Elvera was a member of Holy Family Catholic Aid. She enjoyed watching game shows and playing cards. Elvera loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her three daughters: Barb Swanson and Rosemary (Milton W.) Burgess all of Mankato and Janet Sanftner of Farmington; four grandchildren: Robert (Paige) Swanson, Michael Swanson, and Ashley and Jacob Burgess; two great-grandchildren, Quinn and Cooper Swanson; two step grandchildren, Thomas (Melissa) Swanson and Dawn (Emmett) Nelson; three step great-grandchildren, Brandon and Kaitlyn Swanson and William Nelson; one sister, Eleanor Salfer of Mankato; three sisters-in-law, Mary (Robert) Willaert of St. Peter, Rosella Branch of Oak Park, MN, and Marcella (Herb) Branch of Minnetonka; and one brother-in-law, Russ (Glenda) Sanftner of Mora, MN; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers, and one sister.
