Wilbert Schultz, age 79, of Beauford, died Tuesday, February 17, 2004 at his home.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Rev. John Hagen officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Beauford. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Mankato Mortuary and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Memorials are preferred to Redeemer Lutheran Church or to an organization of the donors choice.

Wilbert Burdell Schultz was born June 29, 1924 in Beauford to Henry and Iva (Ward) Schultz. Willie served in the US Navy from 1945-1947 in the South Pacific, and was a current member of the Mapleton VFW Post 5338, Minnesota Lake American Legion Post 287, and the Boone, Iowa Moose Lodge 104. On November 22, 1949, he married Lorraine Bluhm at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Decoria Township.

In 1948, he started his life long career with Hallett Construction Company of Boone, Iowa as the general superintendent until 1983. He also worked for McCarthy Improvement until his retirement. He enjoyed seasonal farm work for Hislop Farms until this past fall. Willie also loved fishing, deer hunting, watching the wild life in his back yard, keeping in touch and reminiscing with friends. His love for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will be deeply missed.

Wilbert is survived by his mother, Iva Schultz of Mankato; his wife and friend of 54 years, Lorraine; children, Peggy (John) Kling of Shakopee, Suzette (Scott) Drake of Chaska, , Randy Schultz of Sioux City, IA, Ronald (Tamara) Schultz of Mapleton, Tamara (Mark) Larson of St. James; grandchildren, Jodi Schultz, Cory (Rose) Drake, Dr. Jamie Kling, Jessica (Mike) Kline, Krysti Kling, Sara, Blair, and Troy Schultz, Allison, Janelle, and Garrett Larson; great-grandchildren, Haley, Jace, Macy, Emma, and Jacob; brothers, Gerald of Good Thunder, Robert (Ethel) of Madelia, Wesley (Marlene) of St. Clair; sister, Delores Tootie Bumgarner of Minneapolis; nieces and nephews, special friends and in-laws, Lorin and Luverne Bergemann of Good Thunder. He was preceded in death by his father; brother, Floyd; in-laws, Ruben and Lillie Bluhm, and granddaughter, Kelli Drake.

Pallbearers will be Curtis Bergemann, nephew; Dennis Bergemann, nephew; Cory Drake, grandson; Mike Kline, grandson-in-law; Dr. Jamie Kling, grandson; David McConnell, friend; Blair Schultz, grandson; Brad Schultz, nephew; and Brian Schultz, nephew. Honorary pallbearers will be Willies grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
