Wayne Nerem

Wayne R. Nerem, age 85 of North Mankato died Tuesday, February 17, 2004 at Mankato Lutheran Home in Mankato.

Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church with Rev. Joel Erickson officiating. Burial in Woodland Hills Memorial Park, Mankato. Visitation from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Mankato Mortuary and one hour before services at the church on Friday.

Wayne was born February 3, 1919 in Roland, Iowa to Ingemore and Laura (Peck) Nerem. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was honorably discharged. He was united in marriage to Amanda O. Halvorson on February 9, 1942 in Minneapolis. Wayne was an independent plaster contractor and enjoyed gardening and constructing buildings. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Mankato and VFW Post 950.

Wayne is survived by three sons, Richard Nerem and his wife, Barbara of Loveland, CO, Steven Nerem of North Mankato, Randy Nerem and his wife, Shawn of Nicollet; one daughter and special friend, Pat Oftedahl and Lynn Sweet of Mankato; seven grandchildren, Crystal Oftedahl, Chris Oftedahl and his wife, Anne, Nicole and Mitchell Nerem, Megan , Brendan, and Reece Nerem; six great-grandchildren; one brother and his wife, Martin Buck and Donna Nerem of Afton, MN; one sister, Eldora Wyatt of Dallas, TX; several nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and two sisters.
