Helen L. Tronvold, age 88 of Mankato, died Monday, February 09, 2004 at the Mankato Lutheran Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mankato with Rev. Paul Meierding officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be one hour before services at the church on Thursday. Memorials may be given to the donor's choice. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
Helen L. Tronvold was born August 8, 1915 to Louis and Anna (Garberg) Tronvold in Rapidan Township, Blue Earth County, Minnesota. She attended Indian Lake Country School, graduated from Rapidan High School and Mankato Teachers College. She received her Masters Degree from Mankato State College and did graduate work in Oslo, Norway. Helen taught at Sugar Grove Country School, Rapidan Elementary and Union School in Mankato. In 1979, she retired from teaching in the Mankato District.
She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, where she had been confirmed and a member with the LCW. She was a member of Sons of Norway, Norsklaget, and the Sunshine Club. She enjoyed rosemaling, reading and translating Norwegian, traveling, needlework and crafts. She and her sister donated their ancestral log cabin to the Blue Earth County Agricultural Society.
Survivors include cousins, Eldbjorg Foss, Knut Tronvoll, Otto and Anna Tronvoll all of Norway. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister.
